Uintah Basin Healthcare’s new Roosevelt facility will consist of a 3-story tower containing composite steel floors and patented SidePlate moment connections. The tower replaces the existing South entrance. The team took great care to ensure the remaining portions of the existing building were adequately supported while making room for the structurally independent tower to be constructed. A single-story addition will be built in the center of the existing building. The original facility, which was built in 1968, has had many new additions added, leading to a range of challenges during demolition and construction. The building addition is supported laterally by SidePlate moment connections designed to be deflection controlled to avoid racking against existing masonry shear walls during a major lateral event.
