The new South Clearfield Elementary School is a learning community-based school built on the adjacent land of the old school. The new L-shaped school includes a welcoming central heart that connects two learning community wings, making it the ultimate space for school gatherings. One of the main objectives and needs of the new school was to include specialty programs, including the expansion of STEM and art classes. Flexible studios, learning commons, and outdoor spaces allow for 21st-century and non-traditional learning and teaching. Each wing was also designed to provide extra space for the community’s future student population growth. The school also includes the first “Teachers Academy” in Utah. These teacher collaboration spaces allow university students to take classes in similar 21st-century learning spaces where they experience and learn in an innovative learning environment.
